Update

In our latest study, we provide a detailed landscape of low-complexity domains (LCDs) in a representative set of all known organisms (>21,000 organisms). We explore functions linked to specific categories of rare or unusual LCDs. Finally, we can compare the LCD content of whole proteomes for all LCD categories at once. You can read more about it here.

The Ross Lab is in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Colorado State University. Our primary research interests involve prions and prion-like proteins, although we are also actively investigating the functions, structures, and regulation of low-complexity domains within proteins.

Our primary research toolkit includes:

  • Yeast genetics
  • Fluorescence microscopy
  • Protein purification and in vitro biochemistry
  • Bioinformatics
